There’s something nostalgic about the 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI, but it still delivers everything you’d want from a modern performance hatchback. The GTI has long been the benchmark for fun-to-drive hatchbacks, and the 2025 model keeps that legacy alive. Sure, we lost the manual transmission this year, but maybe VW will bring it back, just like they brought back real buttons on the steering wheel. Even with “just” 241 horsepower, the 2.0-liter turbo engine was surprisingly entertaining, and those classic plaid seats were a highlight. After a week behind the wheel, I can say the 2025 Golf GTI still earns its place as one of the best sporty hatchbacks you can buy.
